The Arid Lands Video Demonstration & Media Outreach Project
Investigators (most current known information)
Survivors in the Sand tracks the efforts of leading international scientists in their quest to unlock the secrets of the world's diverse desert environments. This newly released documentary also looks at those who choose to live in the desert-resilient people from around the globe who struggle to balance the desire for prosperity with the need to sustain the fragile deserts in which they live.
As human populations explode, the impact on these vital lands has accelerated substantially. Survivors in the Sand takes the viewer to the front lines of this confrontation, as desert dwellers and scientists grapple with the challenges facing them today. Recorded on-location in the deserts of Australia, the Middle East, and the American Southwest, the documentary presents stories of different global perspectives.
